Some marriages are simply no more than an agreement of a connection; however temporary. Some weddings are no more complicated than the answer to a question of romantic solidarity that ends in an "I do". And all marriages of this type are both fleeting and impermanent. All weddings of this nature are cast carelessly, like pebbles, into a passing river. As it turns out, they should be.
A song about the same person in an earlier experience ("Without the Kiss" is the other), "Wedding" is a song about promising romance missed due to the inevitable shifting of circumstance. There is no actual wedding, save for the marriage of fate and timing.
Intended during the album's inception to be both the theme and the title track of "Darlene" (the U.S. release of "Here."), songs like "Laura" illustrate Julean's most common writing and performance style: intricate, lyrical, intense, and introspective.
"A Wedding for Laura" was also written in the same "Flop House" as "Mountains of Anastasia", "Without the Kiss" (written concurrently with this song), "The Dance", and of course, "Flop House".
This version of the recording -- a set of recordings made during the same studio session for "Muse Tree", "Alexandria, Falling", and "Disconnect' in 2007 -- was released in "premaster" form as a physical item for European audiences during performances in Europe from 2008 to 2010. A more recent and mastered collection is available on the U.S. release, "Darlene" (2011), available here:
